Get Rid of Unwanted Hair

Hair is simple in arrangement, yet has vital purposes. It is made of a strong protein called keratin. Blood vessels nurture the cells in the hair and deliver hormones that adjust hair growth. The role of hair is to protect your skin as well as control temperature and sensation. For most hair grows on the head, armpits, legs, arms etc. Apart from the head, hair growing on other parts of the body is considered as unwanted hair. This leads to people looking for different ways to remove the hair.

Homemade recipes to get rid of unwanted hair

Lemon sugar

The mixture of sugar and lemon juice helps exfoliate the face, whiten it and lighten tiny hairs, making them less visible. When honey is added to this mixture it removes the hair but can be painful. Prepare this mixture by mixing lemon, sugar and honey in a pan then heating it for 3 minutes. If the mixture is too thick add some water to smoothen it. Leave the mixture until it cools down and then it’s ready to be applied. Use a spatula and apply it on where you want the hair removed in the direction of its growth. Use a cloth to remove it by pulling it in the opposite direction.

Lentils and potatoes

When potatoes are mixed with yellow lentils they can remove unwanted hair. Soak the lentils in water overnight. Peel the potatoes, grind them and extract their juice. Then remove the lentils from the water and grind them to make a paste. Mix the lentil paste with potato juice, some lemon juice and honey. Place this paste on the area you want to remove the hair and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. Remove the paste by rubbing it off with your fingers and repeat 2-3 times a week.

Alum and rose water

This method is very popular in India and Pakistan and has been used by many women. Take a small bowl and add alum powder, rose water, a few drops of olive oil and mix well. By using a cotton ball apply this mixture to the skin until it’s dry. This method should be repeated for an hour with 15-20 minute repletion. When you’re done, wash the skin with water and moisturize it with oil.

Eggs

Break an egg or some eggs (depending on how much you need) into a bowl. Add half a teaspoon of starch and a tablespoon of sugar into the bowl and mix well. Take the paste and put it on the skin, leaving it for 20 minutes. Strongly pull the mixture off the skin, wash and moisturize. Then repeat the method 2-3 times a week.

Other ways of removing unwanted hair

Shaving

Shaving is the most common way known for removing body hair. It can be done by using a razor, shaver and shaving cream available in many shops and pharmacies. Many prefer this method because it’s fast and doesn’t cause any pain. However, this method doesn’t prevent hair growth and gives short term results. When using this method remember to use hot water first to open pores, ensuring a smooth shave. Then moisturize the area to be shaved using either shaving gel or cream then leaving it on the skin for a while, to protect you from the blade.

Waxing

When waxing you remove the hair at once, no need to repeat the process. It is removed by pulling the wax off along with the hair. The wax is in the form of pressed paper strips or strips attached with wax. You apply it directly to the skin and pull it strongly. This leads to hair thinning every time it is used. If your skin is sensitive, it is advised not to use it on sensitive areas for it causes rashes. Then when done, wash well and moisturize.

Use tweezers

Tweezers are used on small areas of the body like the face for example. It is very effective on reducing hair growth and the cheapest method to use in removing hair.

Hair removal cream

They’re so many different types of hair removal creams. This method is similar to shaving in a way because it lasts for a short period of time. The hair is removed by applying some cream to the area, waiting a few minutes then removed. It can be obtained from shops and pharmacies.

When using this method avoid using it on the face, chest and genitals. Using it on these areas can irritate the skin, cause itchiness, rash and redness. See a doctor if you get any of these signs.
