Home Remedies for Oily Skin

Oily skin is categorized by an increase in motion of the sebaceous glands. This means that more sebum is produced, making your skin look more shiny, with more acne, blackheads, and white heads appearing. Pollution and dirt can lead to closing your skin pores.

Oily skin care steps

Do not rub your skin hard

The skin produces oils to maintain its hydration. However, when you rub oily skin too hard and use a lotion that contains alcohol, it stimulates the sebaceous glands to secrete more oils to restore skin the moisture. To avoid this should use mild cleansers on the skin.

Do not over-wash your face

You should wash your face in order to remove stored dirt but not more than twice a day. This is because frequent washing stimulates the production of more oils in the skin – most especially in the summer. When you are about to go to bed, it is best to use a cleanser that contains Salic acid. This is because it removes dead skin cells and makes your skin glow.

Avoid touching your face

A whole lot of dirt and microbes gather on your hands. In that case when you touch your face dirt and oils are transferred to it, so you must wash your hands well before touching the face.

Use of toner

A toner is a liquid used to reduce oils from the skin. It is recommended to wipe your face with a toner several times a day. You can combine it with rose water in equal quantities and keep it in the refrigerator.

Foods that contain vitamin A

Vitamin A contributes to controlling oils in the skin. This vitamin is one of the elements that renew skin cells. Therefore, it is recommended to take vitamin A supplements and foods that contain it, such as spinach, carrots, watermelon, fish, and sweet potatoes.

Choose the right products

It is best to use moisturizing creams and skin cleansers that contain ingredients such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and niacin, all of these ingredients reduce oils in the skin.

Skin peeling

You must exfoliate the skin once a week to remove dead skin cells. This helps in obtaining fresh and bright skin. Most skin peeling products contain ingredients that absorb excess oils in the skin. You can also rely on natural materials to exfoliate the skin such as lemon or cucumber and other things you can find at home.

Face masks

After peeling, it is best to make a face mask. This is very important for people with oily skin. You must choose masks that contain kaolin, clay, or sandalwood because they are ingredients that absorb excess oils in the skin.

Moisturizing the skin

Contrary to the popular belief that oily skin does not need moisturizing, an oil-free moisturizer based on water does not increase the amount of oils in the skin. Also note that the skin must be moisturized on a daily basis.

Use of sun protection cream

Sun protection creams should be used at all times. Some believe that it is not necessary to use it but creams that have gel in their components should be chosen to provide the necessary protection from sun damage. You should also drink plenty of water, stay away from foods that contain a lot of sugar, eat at least one fruit per day and eat vegetables.
