The Field Of Artificial Intelligence

The Field Of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is the science of inventing intelligent machines and computer programs to simulate human thinking and intelligence. The term may also refer to the ability of a digital computer to perform the tasks associated with intelligent beings. Such as learning, problem-solving, and others.

Since the development of the digital computer in the forties of the twentieth century. Proven that computers programmed to carry out extremely complex tasks. Well, despite the continuous progress in computer processing speed and memory capacity, there are still no programs that perfectly match the flexibility of the human brain. This is because the human mind is in broader fields, or tasks that require a lot of knowledge every day. Yet, artificial intelligence has many applications in our daily life.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence included in many limitless applications. Applications such as medical diagnosis, computer search engines, distinguishing sounds, or recognizing handwriting, robots, and autonomous vehicles.

Unmanned aircraft are the most well-known application in the field of artificial intelligence.

Simulation is one of the fields that have benefited from the development of computers. Video games were developed to become more realistic. In addition to developing applications that help in teaching different languages. Apps such as Siri application – This is done by answering some of the user’s questions with pre-programmed answers.

The history of artificial intelligence

The term artificial intelligence was first mentioned in 1956 AD. It was by John McCarthy, who organized a two-month workshop at Dartmouth College. The workshop brought together researchers interested in artificial neural networks. Although this workshop did not lead to any new innovations, it brought together the founders of artificial intelligence science. It also contributed to laying the foundation for the future of research related to it.

It is worth noting that after this workshop, an intense wave of research in artificial intelligence began. Done by establishing research centers related to it. Such as Carnegie Mellon Center, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

These institutes are focused on creating systems that can efficiently find solutions to problems. Such as Logic Theorist, considered as the first program for artificial intelligence. In addition to systems that learn on their own. The same systems such as the positioning system (GPS) and artificial intelligence appeared in the seventies of the twentieth century. They appeared in different fields, such as expert systems, language processing, knowledge representation, and others.
